It’s not unusual for a city-wide music festival to program a concert in the local airport, it’s usually not a set you’d go out of your way to see. SXSW 2023, however, hosted a hot ticket at the baggage claim in the Austin Airport on Tuesday, with boygenius — Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker‘s band — performing an acoustic set. Considering that boygenius is one of indie rock’s hottest acts with their upcoming debut album, the record, one of the most anticipated releases of the year, it’s a pretty wild flex on SXSW’s part. Speaking of standout SXSW shows, The FADER and Porsche teamed up last weekend for three nights of great music with Big Boi, Kelela, MorMor, Madison McFerrin, sadie, and Sudan Archives all performing.
