Tyler, The Creator has collaborated with Converse to direct a new advertisement for the brand. In the hilarious clip, the exclusive “Really Cool Converse Club” convenes for a meeting over its strict set of rules, with members including Vince Staples, Henry Rollins, Odd Future member Jasper, former NBA players Bill Walton and Marques Johnson, actor Tim Meadows and more, all representing the many subcultures who rock the sneaker.

“I instantly thought about the many pockets of people that wear Chucks – like skateboarders, soccer moms, kids down the street, guys in the neighborhood I grew up with – and I wanted to put them in one place, that was important to me,” Tyler said about the ad in a press release. “Everyone wears Chucks…including pirates.”

Staples is joined on writing duties by Bryan Edward Hill (Batman & the Outsiders, Titans) and Chris Robinson (Children of the Atom) with Buster Moody on illustrations. On Z2’s website, Limbo Beach is described as an adolescent superhero drama taking place on an abandoned theme park island. “Follow the newest member of the Wunderlosts, a band of misfit teenage raiders, on a journey to discover the truth about the park—and himself—in a tale that is equal parts Lord of the Flies and The Warriors.”

Next month will see the release of Vince Staples’ self-titled album. The project drops July 9, and contains the single “Law of Averages.”

Vince Staples will release a new, self-titled album this summer, and is working on another album called Ramona Park Broke My Heart as well as a Netflix show. The Los Angeles rapper revealed his new projects in a GQ profile with Desus Nice published on Thursday. FM!, the last full-length from Vince Staples, came out in 2018 and was produced by Kenny Beats.

The interview does not share much about the upcoming music, save for Staples recounting a possibly revealing interaction between himself and SAINt JHN. “Two years ago,” Staples remembers, “he said to me, ‘[Your music’s] good, but no one cares.’ I was like, ‘Explain that.’ ‘Everyone’s busy,’ [SAINt JHN] said… ‘They don’t have time to try to figure out what you’re trying to tell them. You’re just supposed to make them feel better and make them feel good. Put them in a specific space.'”

“And that’s just something that I’ve been thinking about a lot,” Staples continued. “I’m just learning how to have a balance of everything within the same space and just not necessarily put a lot of pressure on what we create.”

Terrell Hines and Vince Staples’ new track is the latest taste of Hines’ mixtape Portal One.

Terrell Hines has released “Get Up,” the latest taste of his forthcoming debut mixtape Portal One: The Mixtape. A quiet, meditative track based around an acoustic guitar loop, “Get Up” builds production and tempo until it reaches its forceful, heart-racing peak. A diatribe against the ills of racist capitalism, “Get Up” arrives alongside a lyric video that invokes images of protest signs and tear gas canisters. Watch the video above.

“It’s always good to get a vision out with other artists who want to live in a created space outside of the design we are currently in,” Hines says of the track. “I couldn’t have gotten a better collab than Vince Staples. I’ve always enjoyed and respected his work. He brought a certain energy to the record that only he could bring.” Portal One: The Mixtape is out August 7.
