Perhaps the artist least likely to tolerate any potential lawsuit-inspiring behaviour is Travis Scott. A crowd crush at his Astroworld Festival in 2021 left 10 people dead and hundreds injured, and the resulting suits target Scott and the event’s promoter Live Nation. Scott is carefully making his way back into performing live again, and as TMZ points out, he opened for Meek Mill on Sunday at Coney Island Walls. The operative word is carefully: when fans began scaling the stage’s lighting rig during his set, Scott stopped the show until they climbed down.

In the video obtained by TMZ, streaming below, two individuals can be seen on top of the lighting rig during Scott’s performance of “Antidote.” Then, the video skips forward to show the fans climbing back to the ground as Scott says “We need y’all to get down.” A guy in a Spider Man costume doesn’t seem to immediately comply. Eventually, Scott tries to start performing again, but stops once more to ask the crowd to take a few steps back.

Travis Scott was scheduled to headline Day N Vegas 2022 before the festival was canceled this weekend over what organizers claimed were “logistics, timing, and production issues.” This winter he’ll headline three Primavera Sound festivals in South America.

The concert will mark Travis Scott’s largest public performance to date since the deaths of 10 concertgoers during Scott’s headlining performance at Astroworld 2021. This past December, the rapper was removed as a festival headliner after a deadly crowd surge killed 10 people and injured dozens more at Astroworld. Since then, Scott’s remained pretty quiet. However, TMZ now reports that he appeared near the polo grounds at Bootsy Bellows’ Coachella afterparty in the nearby town of La Quinta.

According to the outlet, Scott did a relatively low-key set around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, performing five of his big hits and taking over the DJ decks. A source also told TMZ that “people were super excited” to see him play the afterparty and that “everyone was dancing and singing along.”

However, the surprise performance will likely be the closest he gets to Coachella, seeing as how Kanye West — who previously said he would bring Scott as a special guest during his set — dropped out of the festival a couple weeks ago.

Last month, Scott played a similar set at a small pre-Oscars house party, which was the first time he performed since the Astroworld tragedy. Other than that, he’s continued to stay under the radar, save for four billboards seemingly tied to the release of a new album, which recently popped up on the I-10 highway near the Coachella festival grounds and read “Psst. Looking for Utopia? Wrong way!”

Travis Scott has been accused in court of violating a gag order preventing him from discussing the Astroworld 2021 tragedy, the Associated Press reports. Bob Hilliard, an attorney representing some of the families of those injured and killed at the festival, made the accusation in court on Monday.

Earlier this month, Scott announced Project HEAL, a philanthropic initiative that promises investment in “a tech-driven device” to boost safety at large events. “My team and I created Project HEAL to take much needed action towards supporting real solutions that make all events the safest spaces they can possibly be,” Scott wrote on Instagram soon after Project HEAL’s announcement. “I will always honor the victims of the Astroworld tragedy who remain in my heart forever.”

On Monday, Hilliard told State District Judge Kristen Hawkins that Scott’s statement violated her gag order preventing attorneys or their clients from discussing the case in public in order to prevent potential jurors from being influenced. An attorney representing Scott named Stephen Brody rejected that claim, responding in court by pointing to Scott’s history of working with charities. He added, “to suggest somehow that speaking about those charitable initiatives… runs afoul of the publicity order… is certainly not something that would withstand scrutiny.”

Dior has postponed a long-awaited collaboration with Travis Scott. The news comes as companies continue to cut ties with Scott in the weeks and months following Astroworld 2021, when 10 were killed and hundreds injured by a crowd surge during his set. Since a “mass casualty event” at Astroworld 2021 left 10 people dead and hundreds injured, Travis Scott has remained out of the public eye, not commenting on the tragedy beyond a brief video statement. On Thursday, The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God shared a 51-minute interview with Travis Scott on his YouTube channel covering the events of Astroworld and the aftermath.

Scott, who has faced criticism for not stopping his headlining set as the crowd surge began to claim lives, said that he was unaware of what was taking place during his performance. “It wasn’t until minutes [before] the press conference that I found out exactly what happened,” Scott said.

Later, Scott would deny that he heard fans screaming for help. “Anytime you can hear something like that you wanna stop the show, you wanna make sure fans get the proper attention they need. And I really just go off the fans’ energy as a collective, you know, call and response. I just didn’t hear that. I got music, I got my in-ears. But I just didn’t hear that.”

Travis Scott is facing legal action following the deaths of at least eight people at his Astroworld festival over the weekend. Billboard reports that Scott, alongside promoters Live Nation and ScoreMore, are named in a complaint from one attendee, who is seeking at least $1M in damages.

In addition to the eight confirmed deaths, there were also reports of multiple injuries and scores of cardiac arrests at the festival, which took place on November 5 at Houston’s NRG Park. Scott headlined the event, which was eventually called off during his performance. A second day, scheduled for November 6, was subsequently canceled. Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña has suggested that crowd surging was the cause of the crowd trouble that led to the injuries and deaths.

The fallout for Scott and his business assosciates has already begun with the rapper named in a suit filed on Saturday by Manuel Souza in Harris County District Court. Billboard reports that Souza describes the events of the day as a “predictable and preventable tragedy” and that he points to a number of signs that organizers had lost control of the festival, including when “concertgoers breached a security gate around the park, stampeded into the premises, and trampled over one another.”

Souza’s complaint echoes the sentiment of many on social media that Scott’s performance should not have continued when it became clear that many audience members had “suffered serious obvious injury.”

A second lawsuit was filed on Sunday, November 7 by Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry against Scott, Drake (a surprise guest during Scott’s set), Live Nation, and NRG Stadium on behalf of “one of the victims.”

Scott has responded twice since Friday night, first in a public statement in which he stated was “absolutely devastated by what took place.” He added: “My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life. I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need.” He also shared an Instagram video in which he addressed the losses via Instagram.

While driving with YBN Almighty Jay in the passenger seat, Dean made the allegations after the rapper told her that she looked like Rihanna. Harley Dean responded to Almighty Jay’s compliment saying that Rihanna hates her before going on to explain why.

“Because I worked with her a few years ago right before she launched her [Clara Lionel] foundation back in 2015, her White Gala [Diamond Ball],” Dean said. “I helped fundraise her gala here in Hollywood while she was f***ing my boss, and gave my boss chlamydia.”

Dean added that she was initially blamed for infecting her boss. “And here I am, the he, alleged he, yeah I am a h*e, but everyone thought that I was the one fucking my boss and in all reality, it was this b**ch. It came out that she got him sick, ’cause he was married, he’s a prince in Africa.”

Dean says at the time, she was doing work for the African Prince and UNICEF, and other organizations that were in support of Rihanna’s foundation.

She added that at the time, Rihanna was also beefing with the Kardashian clan because she was dating Travis Scott. While there is nothing to support Dean’s allegations of an African Prince dating Rihanna, there have been reports by a journalist from news site Complex who said he was about to report on the news about Rihanna and Travis Scott but that RiRi had asked him not to because she didn’t want people to know because she was embarrassed.

In any case, it seems that the purported event Dean is talking about is Rihanna’s Diamond Ball which she claimed she helped to fundraise but was blocked from entering the event and was told that Rihanna specifically asked that she not be allowed in.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has not responded to the allegation. She’s been busy focusing on her Savage X Fenty Volume 3 show set to be aired on Amazon Prime on September 24th.

Kylie Jenner Confirms Pregnancy With Second Baby With Travis Scott

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott confirm expecting a second baby.

Kylie Jenner shared the news on Tuesday night amidst previous speculations that she was pregnant. In a 1:30 second video shared to her official Instagram account, the Keeping Up With The Kardashian reality TV star confirmed she’s expecting her second child with rapper Travis Scott.

The video showed her pregnancy test as she surprises a sleeping Scott with the news, as well as the couple visiting the doctor where they are told they are “a couple days away from a heartbeat” and while their three-year-old daughter Stormi looks on.

Later on in the video, Stormi is seen kissing her mother’s belly and even looking at the pregnancy monitor as the doctors attend to her mother. It’s unclear how far along Kylie is but her Tik Tok fans long suspected she was pregnant.

Her family, on the other hand, appeared happy as Kylie’s video at the end showed everyone having dinner. A clip in the video also shows mom and manager Kris Jenner being handed an envelope containing sonograms by Stormi, which she opens and examined before realizing that Kylie is pregnant. “What is this? Wait a second, are you pregnant?!” She asks as she opens the envelope. “This is one of the happiest days of my life.”

“Stormi, we’re gonna have a baby!” Kris then says to her granddaughter before exclaiming, “This is one of the happiest days of my life!”

Other highlights of the announcement video showed Scott clearly happy about the announcement. The pair have had a rocky relationship since the birth of Stormi and have had several breakups and make-ups. The pair appeared to have got back together in May 2021 following a breakup in late 2019 but appeared to still be together in a rumored open relationship. Things started looking good for the couple this year when they were spotted out in Miami earlier in the year getting cozy at a club in Miami for Scott’s birthday.

Meanwhile, according to TMZ, sources say that Kylie “has been trying for almost two years to get pregnant” and that she’s now in the “early stages of pregnancy.”

Kendrick Lamar has shared an open letter on a new website updating fans on his new project. In the missive titled “nu thoughts,” the rapper revealed will be his “final album” for Top Dawg Entertainment, the California label that has released the entirety of his catalogue so far.

“As I produce my final TDE album,” Lamar writers, “I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years… May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.” Lamar had publically denied rumors of a split with the label last year.

Read the full statement, which is signed as “oklama,” below. Lamar doesn’t reveal any release date for the project, though the letter concludes “See you soon enough.” Longtime T.D.E. mixer MixedByAli claimed in November that Lamar had enough material for six albums.

I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts. Writing. Listening. And collecting old Beach cruisers. The morning rides keep me on a hill of silence.

I go months without a phone.

Love, loss, and grief have disturbed my comfort zone, but the glimmers of God speak through my music and family.

While the world around me evolves, I reflect on what matters the most. The life in which my words will land next.

As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.

There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.

Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all.

See you soon enough.

Kendrick Lamar’s previous album Damn. was released in 2017 and won the Pulitzer Prize.

Maxo Kream returns with “Local Joker”
It’s the Houston rapper’s first new solo song in two years.

By Jordan Darville

July 30, 2021

Houston rapper Maxo Kream is back with “Local Joker,” his first new song since his excellent 2019 project Brandon Banks (he’s since appeared J. Cole’s label compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III). In his new song, Maxo strikes a reflective tone, ruminating on his upbringing and outlining what getting it out the mud really means. It’s a smooth and bittersweet track, underlined by the ritzy surroundings captured in Notachance’s music video.

“‘Local Joker’ explains where I’m at in my life right now,” Maxo said in a press statement. “I love Houston, I’m from Houston. My merch is Houston-focused. My music has a strong Houston influence-everything is Houston, it’s local. You can catch me in any part of Houston with the local jokers – but at the same time I’m not a local joker because I’ve grown and expanded the territory that I touch. But home will always be home- and that’s Houston, Alief fasho!”

No one will fault you if you’re skeptical that Kanye will actually release Donda next month. In September 2018, West announced an album called Yandhi only to shelve it indefinitely a few months later. A year after releasing Jesus Is King, he shared the song “Wash Us In The Blood” featuring Travis Scott from an album titled God’s Country; that project hasn’t materialized, either.
