Swarm is the new TV show from Atlanta creator Donald Glover. It stars Dominique Fishback as a huge music fan whose obsession with fictional pop star Ni’jah pushes her to extreme and violent situations. Swarm debuted on Amazon Prime Video today, March 17, and an accompanying EP of music from the show has been released alongside it.

The EP features six Ni’Jah songs including a collaboration with Glover, credited to his Childish Gambino moniker. Ni’Jah’s vocals come courtesy of Kirby, the Roc Nation-signed artist who released her debut album Sis in 2020. Glover executive produced the tracks with regular collaborator Michael Uzowuru. Glover’s last album as Childish Gambino, 3.15.20, was released in 2020. At the time Glover speculated that it would be his final project under that name. His hit TV show Atlanta wrapped up after four seasons in 2022.

5 things we learned from Donald Glover interviewing himself for Interview

5 things we learned from Donald Glover interviewing himself for Interview
He spoke about Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, his music career, and more.

Donald Glover is the cover star for Interview‘s latest edition, and true to form, the rapper, actor, and artist decided on a format that would divide the internet into two fervently opposed camps. Rather than speaking to a fellow celebrity for the piece – the feature style Interview is famous for – Glover chose to be “interviewed” by himself.

It goes without saying that this is not really an interview in the traditional sense. Near the start of the piece, Glover says he chose to speak with himself as he felt most interviews ask the same questions: “This way I can get questions I usually don’t get asked.”

It’s a lofty standard to set right out of the gate for a feature that could have benefitted from lifing a few more cues from David Byrne’s self-interview, a still-amusing take on the interview with an unfortunate sprinkle of blackface. Instead, the Glover interview pushes the inherent absurdity into the background in favor of attempts at guru-like reflections on the culture, Gloverish koans, and a few bits that approach genuine wisdom.

Still, for Glover fans it’s a fairly comprehensive state of the union, covering his personal life, the upcoming TV show Mr. and Mrs Smith, his music career, and more. See below for a few highlights, and read the full interview here.

PEN15’s Maya Erskin is replacing Pheobe Waller-Bridge in Glover’s TV adaptation of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

“Yeah. She’s dope. It’s exciting. I really love the show. I’m writing the finale now.”

He’s farming now…

“I love farms. I love produce. We’ve got all these fruits, bees. Our cow is pregnant so we’ll have milk for a little while. It makes me happy.”

…but music is still on the menu.

“I’ve been rapping a lot. Producing. It’s fun again. Doing features.”

He considers the Childish Gambino album Because The Internet to be “the rap OK Computer

“It’s prescient in tone and subject matter and it’s extremely influential. And I know no one’s gonna give me that until I’m dead. But it’s true.”

Some thoughts on Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle were shared

“A lot of people believe both of them are doing what they do in good faith. It’s not cynical. It’s not CNN or Fox. It doesn’t feel to most people like they’re trying to sell something. People are looking for other people to interact with in good faith. Because a lot of this rage is artificial. People have emotional diabetes and don’t even know it.”

Donald Glover‘s hit FX show Atlanta will come to an end after its fourth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. FX CEO John Landgraf revealed the news on Thursday during the winter press tour for the Television Critics Association.

The show’s upcoming third season is set to premiere on March 24 with the final season airing this fall. Both seasons were originally set to air in 2021 before the coronavirus pandemic forced a delay in filming. Glover shared the first trailer for the third season in November 2021, roughly three years after Atlanta‘s second season first aired.

In February 20021, Glover left his FX deal in favor of an eight-figure contract with Amazon. His current projects for the company include a reboot of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (a collaboration with Phoebe Waller-Bridge before the Fleabag creator dropped out) and Hive, a music series featuring Malia Obama in the show’s writer’s room.

Donald Glover has been quiet since dropping the fourth Childish Gambino album 3.15.20 in March via a website, but on Friday he broke his social media silence to tweet an announcement of a new “music project.” He’s pretty excited about it: “last music project was probably my best,” he said of 3.15.20, “but the one coming will be my biggest by far.”

No other details were given, but it’s unlikely that the project is a new Childish Gambino album. Glover has referred to the then-upcoming fourth Childish Gambino album as his final under the moniker, and he hasn’t shared any indication that he’s changed his mind on the matter.

Glover also gave an update on seasons three and four of his TV show Atlanta. In September, the hit FX program has had filming delayed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now expected to premiere later in 2021. Still, Glover implied it would be worth the wait. “s3+s4 are going to be some of the best television ever made,” Glover wrote. sopranos only ones who can touch us.”

Quavo and Childish Gambino Hints At Some Joint Music Coming

Quavo and Childish Gambino are cooking up some new music in the studio.

The Migos rapper recently wrapped up his joint album with Travis Scott and already he is moving on to work on something new, this time with his fellow Atlanta artist and close friend Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover. Quavo ignite Instagram yesterday when he posted a photo of himself and Gambino in the studio. The pic shows the “Portland” rapper appears to be cutting up weed while Glover stands in front of a laptop. “H U N C H O G L O V E R N A W F A T L A N T A,” he wrote in the caption.

He didn’t revealed what they are working on but it could be music or some TV production. Migos appeared on the first season of Donald Glover’s hit comedy TV series Atlanta. He won a Golden Globe award for the show and gave Migos a big shou-out during his acceptance speech when he praised them for their single “Bad and Boujee” and even refers to the group as the Beatles of this generation.

This is the second time that the two posted a photo of themselves in the studio together in recent weeks. Back in October, they posted a pic of Quavo, Donald Glover, Lil Yachty, and Chance The Rapper in the studio together. The final products from those recording sessions are not here as yet, but we are all waiting patiently. Quavo is one of the most requested artists this year for guest verses on other artists music. He is also one of the most streamed artists on Spotify this year as he continues to build a catalog for himself out of the group. Migos is currently working on their new album Culture 2, which they say is coming soon.

Donald Glover Wins Two Emmys and Create History In The Process

Donald Glover continues to have an amazing year with Atlanta TV series winning two Emmys on Sunday including creating history.

Glover won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in the hit FX series and then he created history by becoming the first African American to win an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Directing In a Comedy Series. To make it even more impressive, he beat out competition from other hit TV shows like Veep and Silicon Valley. In January of this year, Glover won himself two Golden Glove awards and last night he went into the Emmys with five nominations and walked away with two.

Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, debut the comedy series Atlanta on FX last year and it became an instant hit. The second season was delayed until 2018 when it will begin filming. The rapper/actor thanked his parents, his son, his wife and his Atlanta castmates while accepting the award. He also thanked his friend Hiro Murai for teaching him about directing.

“He taught me everything about directing,” Glover said. “He had the eye for this show and he’s just amazing. I really want to give this to Hiro and just say ‘I love you and thank you for being my best friend.’”
